Privacy Policy
Last updated November 7, 2026
This policy explains what information Code Leash LLC(“we,” “us”) collects when you use the ChromaVid website and service (the “Service”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Service.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, an optional display name, and your password, which we store only as a one-way hash.
- Your content: the videos and photos you upload, their file names and any names you give them, the trim ranges you choose, and the colorized results.
- Billing details: your plan, minutes, purchases, invoices and billing address. Card details go straight to Stripe; we see only the card brand, last four digits and expiry date.
- Messages you send us, for example by email.
Information collected automatically
- Activity records: sign-ins, uploads, jobs, purchases and account changes, with the time and the IP address they came from, kept to secure the Service, resolve billing questions and prevent abuse.
- Technical data in our server logs: IP address, browser type, the pages and API requests made, and errors.
- Video details we read from your files, such as length, size, resolution and frame rate.
- Usage records: which days you used the Service, which results you downloaded, which Share buttons you pressed, and which version of a feature you were shown while we test it. They are stored with our own records, tied to your account, and never sent to an analytics company.
We do not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers, and we do not buy information about you from others.
2. How we use it
- to provide the Service: store your files, colorize them, show you the results and let you download them;
- to run your account, plan, minutes and payments, and to send invoices and receipts;
- to keep the Service secure, enforce our Terms and prevent fraud and abuse (for example of the free allowance);
- to answer your questions and send messages about your account or changes to the Service;
- to fix problems and improve the Service, using aggregate measures such as job counts and processing times;
- to test changes: we may show a new feature to some users and not others, and compare how each group uses the Service, counting only totals;
- to meet legal obligations.
We do not use your videos or photos to train our models, and our staff do not look at them except when you ask for help with a specific file, or when we must to investigate abuse or comply with the law.
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example in the EU and UK), we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a secure and working service, your consent where we ask for it, and our legal obligations.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run parts of the Service for us under contract: Microsoft Azure (hosting, databases and file storage) and Stripe (payments, invoices and fraud prevention). They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- Authorities or others when the law requires it, or when needed to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us. We report child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities.
- A buyer or successor if the Service is part of a merger, sale or reorganization, under this policy.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use only what the Service needs to work: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in and protects your account, and your browser’s local storage for display preferences such as how your library is sorted and laid out. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout and card forms to prevent fraud.
5. How long we keep it
- Your videos, photos and colorized results stay until you delete them, or until your account is closed. Deleting an item in your library removes the files from our storage.
- Temporary working copies made while a job runs are deleted when the job ends.
- Account details are kept while your account is open. When it is closed, we delete or anonymize them, except for what we must keep for tax, accounting, fraud prevention or legal reasons (such as invoices and payment records).
- Activity records and logs are kept as long as needed for security and billing, then deleted.
- Usage records are deleted after 180 days. The totals from a finished feature test are kept, without anything that identifies you.
6. Your choices and rights
You can see and change your display name and billing details, and delete your videos and photos, from your account at any time. You can also ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong;
- close your account and delete your information;
- restrict or object to some uses of it.
Email info@chromavid.ai from the address on your account. We may need to confirm it is you, and we will answer within the time the law where you live requires (usually 30 to 45 days). Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), these may be legal rights; we will not treat you differently for using them. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access-checked file links that expire, and limited staff access. No service can be perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
8. Where your information is processed
We are based in the United States, and the Service is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the United States. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, with safeguards such as our providers’ standard contractual clauses where required.
9. Children
The Service is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
